The Clayful Potter is a hand-built ceramics practice inspired by the ocean, beaches, bushland, garden life and natural materials found along the South West coast.


Each piece is made slowly by hand, often beginning with driftwood collected from the shoreline and growing into small ceramic worlds filled with tiny houses, sea creatures, flowers and hidden details.

“My garden inspires me every day. Its foliage and flowers influence my work.”

Each piece is shaped by hand through a steady process of building, drying, firing and glazing. Rochelle enjoys the contrast between raw driftwood and clay — one shaped by the elements, the other slowly formed through touch and adjustment.

The Clayful Potter will be participating in Margaret River Region Open Studios for the first time this year. Visitors are invited to step into the studio, see the work in person and discover the small stories behind each piece.

Where to Find the Work

Selected pieces from The Clayful Potter are available directly from Rochelle and through the Handmade Shop in Busselton.

Rochelle’s work has also been shown through local exhibitions and art events, including Sculptures by the Bay, with new pieces continuing to emerge from her coastal garden studio.
